About NOVA Blinds, Shades & Shutters

Founded by friends and industry veterans Rachel Brittain and Amanda White, NOVA was built to offer a better experience than traditional franchise dealers and high-pressure sales organizations. Custom Shades That Protect McLean's Floors, Art & Furnishings

Large McLean windows let in beautiful light, along with the UV rays that fade hardwood floors, rugs, fine art, and custom furniture over time. Window shades combine clean design with real function: they filter harsh afternoon sun, reduce glare, add insulation, and protect the things you've invested in, without giving up your views. From light-filtering fabrics to full room-darkening options, custom shades improve comfort, energy efficiency, privacy, and style throughout your home.

Shade Options for McLean Homes

We offer:
  • Solar shades
  • Sheer shades
  • Cellular shades
  • Roman shades
  • Woven wood shades
  • Roller shades
  • Motorized shades
Solar and sheer shades are popular for McLean's large estate windows because they block UV while keeping the view. Top-down/bottom-up cellular shades let you lower the shade from the top for light while keeping the lower half of the window private. Our team helps you select custom shades, fabrics, textures, opacities, and operating systems that fit both your lifestyle and your home's architecture.

Plantation Shutters for McLean's Classic Colonials

Plantation shutters are a natural fit for McLean's traditional brick colonials and formal homes, where their timeless lines add curb appeal inside and out. Known for their durability, shutters provide exceptional light control and privacy, with adjustable louvers that let you tilt light in or close the room off completely.

Why McLean Homeowners Choose Shutters

We offer:
  • Wood shutters
  • Composite shutters
  • Custom plantation shutters
  • Specialty shape shutters
With home values running high across McLean, many homeowners view plantation shutters as a permanent fixture that can support long-term value, not just a decorative upgrade. Every shutter project for our McLean clients is professionally measured and custom-crafted to fit your windows precisely.

Motorized Window Treatments for Privacy & Convenience in McLean

Motorized window treatments are especially popular in McLean, where two-story windows, wide great rooms, and busy household schedules make manual shades impractical. With the touch of a button, or through smart home integration, you can control privacy, glare, energy efficiency, and natural light throughout the day.

Smart Home Integration for McLean's Busy, Privacy-Minded Households

Many McLean households juggle demanding careers, frequent travel, and a strong preference for privacy. Motorized shades and blinds plug right into the Alexa, Google Home, or Apple HomeKit setups many homeowners already run, letting you schedule windows to close automatically at dusk, lower during peak afternoon sun, or keep your home looking lived-in while you're away. They're especially useful for oversized and hard-to-reach windows, and cordless options remove strangulation hazards for families with young children or pets.

White-Glove Installation Makes the Difference

Even the highest-quality window treatments can underperform when improperly installed, which matters on McLean's oversized windows and custom millwork. Our White-Glove Installation Process Includes:

  • Precise measurements
  • Careful product handling
  • Thorough testing
  • Clean job sites
  • Final walkthroughs
  • Ongoing support
Our McLean clients get flawless results that perform beautifully for years to come.

Frequently Asked Questions About Window Treatments in McLean, VA

  • How can I protect my hardwood floors and art from sun fading in McLean?

Solar shades, sheer shades, and cellular shades block or filter a significant share of UV rays while preserving your view. They are a smart choice for large McLean windows with strong afternoon sun, and motorized versions can lower automatically during peak sun hours. During your consultation we'll recommend fabrics and opacities that fit each room.

  • What window treatments work best for McLean's colonials and modern new builds?

Plantation shutters, wood blinds, and Roman shades suit McLean's traditional brick colonials, while roller shades, sheer shades, and motorized treatments complement sleek new construction with oversized windows. We custom-measure every window, so treatments fit precisely whichever style your home is.

  • Does NOVA Blinds, Shades & Shutters serve McLean, VA?

Yes. Our Fairfax showroom is a short drive from McLean, and we serve homeowners throughout the area, from Langley and Chesterbrook to Evans Farm and the neighborhoods near Tysons. We offer free, no-pressure in-home consultations, so you don't need to visit the showroom to get started.

  • What window treatments offer the most privacy for McLean homes?

Top-down/bottom-up shades, plantation shutters, and lined or blackout shades give you the most control. Top-down/bottom-up options let light in from above while keeping the lower window private, and motorized systems can close your shades on a schedule, such as at dusk, so privacy is automatic.

  • Can I control my shades from my phone or smart home system in McLean?

Yes. Our motorized window treatments work with popular smart home platforms like Alexa, Google Home, and Apple HomeKit, so you can schedule shades, set scenes, or adjust them from your phone. Motorized and cordless options also remove loose cords, which is safer for households with young children or pets.
